About IFC

A prominent landmark on Hong Kong Island, IFC consists of two skyscrapers (1 IFC and 2 IFC), a shopping mall, and a 55-storey hotel, the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. 2 IFC is the second-tallest building in Hong Kong at a height of 412 m.

Project Background

The initiative was launched in 2023, when Neuron team discussed with one of the client’s leadership how to explore the potential of IoT-enabled modernization for their premier commercial space, although the building has been open for many years. Following meticulous planning, Neuron team conducted extensive network signal tests in July 2023, confirming the viability of retrofitting LoRaWAN technology for large-scale deployment. These foundational steps paved the way for a fully integrated, end-to-end IoT infrastructure.

Scope of Work

1. IoT Infrastructure Design & Implementation

  • A custom IoT backbone was developed to seamlessly connect sensors, meters, and systems, enabling real-time monitoring and automation of the building.
  • LoRaWAN technology ensured low-power, long-range connectivity, making it ideal for large-scale deployments.

2. Power & Water Meter Installations and fully integrated Energy Management System (EMS)

  • 400 power meters and 100 water meters were strategically installed across tenant and landlord areas.
  • These meters provided granular energy and water consumption insights, empowering informed decision-making for cost savings and sustainability improvements.

3. Building Management System (BMS) Integration

  • Real-time connectivity with the existing Building Management System enables proactive tracking of energy usage, environmental conditions, and operational metrics, ensuring smarter resource management and cost savings.

4. Smart IoT Platform Deployment

  • Energy Management & Sustainability Insights – Real-time tracking and optimization of energy use.
  • Digital Twins 3D Visualization – An interactive virtual replica for enhanced asset monitoring, space utilization, and operation strategies.
  • AI-Powered Fault Detection – Proactive anomaly detection to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Asset Management – Centralized tracking of maintenance schedules and asset lifecycle management.
